So... what’s all of this spectacularness going to cost?

Why, I’m so glad you asked!

Please keep in mind:

  1. Transport for your bike to the trip and back. No disassembly or packing required.  We will pick up bikes in New York City, Cleveland, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, or Denver.

  1. If you can take advantage of this service it’s huge -- you do NOT pay for bike packing, shipping, re-assembly, packing again for the trip home, shipping again...  If you DO need to ship your bike, not to worry -- we’ll help you with the safest, least-expensive options.

  1. All lodging.  Price is based on two people per room.

  1. Tickets to Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas.

  1. Breakfast each day.

  1. Lunch (almost) every day. We don’t provide lunch on arrival or departure day (because you’ll probably be on an airplane at lunch time those days!)  There is also no lunch the first day, because we’ll be pedaling through beautiful Red Rock Canyon with not a whole lot of restaurants nearby. We’ll be there with full support and lots of bike ride snacks. There are some take-out lunch places nearby if you wish.

  1. Dinner (almost) every evening. Alcohol with dinner in sane quantities. There is ONE evening in Las Vegas where you are on your own to explore and dinner is not included for that night.

  1. Full bike ride support -- route sheets, GPS files for those who want them, mechanics, S.A.G. support (bike rescue), rest stop snacks and drinks.

  1. All transportation during the ride, whenever we’re not traveling by bike. (Vans, private aircraft from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon, and bus shuttles as needed). This is particularly crucial because we’ll be doing a lot of one-way rides -- our transport makes it possible! If you prefer to skip the hills, we’ll transport you to the downhill section.

  1. All gratuities.

  1. All admission tickets (for example, we pay to enter Red Rock Canyon, Slide Rock, and The Grand Canyon).

  1. Two shuttle runs at the end of the trip from Sedona to the Phoenix airport. If you wish to stay in Sedona after hotel check-out time we can arrange luggage storage for you for the day.

  1. Airfare.  Prices vary (and some of you may be using frequent flyer miles or other alternatives). Don’t forget that you will be flying to Las Vegas, but you’ll be flying home from Phoenix.

  1. Why don’t we arrange airfare? Because in the internet age you can get a much better deal on airfare yourself by booking online (Kayak, Expedia, Travelocity...) than we can ever get by calling up the airline directly and offering to buy 57 tickets at once.  When you book your own flight you get to pick the flights and airports that work best for you.  (Can you imagine trying to get all 57 people to agree on one airport and one flight time?  Yikes!)

  1. Bike rental. We assume that you are bringing your own bike. We can help you arrange bike rental if you wish, which costs extra.

  1. Lunch is not included on arrival or departure day (when you will probably be on an airplane at lunch time!). There is also no lunch during the Friday ride.  We’ll be pedaling that day and we’ll have plenty of bike-friendly rest stop snacks, but we won’t be stopping for a sit-down lunch.  Our snack stops are near some good take-out places and a supermarket in case you want to buy something extra.

  1. Dinners include wine or beer in moderate proportions for those who wish to imbibe.  If you want to drink beyond that (or want that $100 bottle of wine or $50 glass of port) you have to pay for it yourself.

  2. Optional guided tour at Hoover Dam.  (Why? Because the Hoover Dam tour sells out every day -- no advance reservations allowed.  Fast cyclists may get there in time for the tour; more relaxed cyclists may not.  So instead of charging everyone for a tour, we’ll let those who want to do it pay when they arrive at the dam if slots are still available.)

  1. Spa services such as massage or beauty treatments. Available at many of our overnight stops.

  1. As mentioned, we are transporting the bikes for free from six different cities to Las Vegas, and then back from Sedona.  If you want bike shipping and transport using a different method we are happy to help, but it will cost extra.

  1. If you are bringing your own hard-shell bike case we are happy to transport it during the ride for free.

  1. Souvenirs

  1. Each day we will have a pro bike mechanic on hand in the morning to handle Bike Doctor Office Hours and tweak anything that needs tweaking. This is free. If your bike needs parts or major surgery it will cost extra.

  1. Inner tubes. Bring them. We will not provide them for free, and EVERY bike gets a flat sometime. I have a really whiny philosophy about WHY we don’t provide tubes, and if you’re extra good I promise to never bore you with it.

  1. Mountain bike rental in Sedona.  We’ll be going on a short optional mountain bike ride first thing in the morning. This is easy riding, but you do NOT want to take your road bike on these trails. Rental prices vary, depending on which bike you choose. Figure about $100 or less.

  1. We will offer two free trips from Sedona to the Phoenix airport on departure day at 8 am. and 1:30 p.m. If you wish transportation to the airport at any other time it can be purchased locally and will cost extra -- about $55 per person plus tip.

TOTAL PRICE: $3,000 per person

Prices are based on two people per room.

If you want a room of your own please add $700 (our cost).

You don’t have to pay for the entire trip all at once if you don’t want to.

When you register for the ride we will ask for a $250 deposit by credit card to save your space in the ride. The online registration folks will hit you for about $15 in service fees.

The balance of the payment for your trip is due by check:

An additional $1,500 per person is due within 60 days.

The final balance is due no later than August 1, 2017.

We'll send you an invoice as a friendly reminder when checks are due.

Need to Cancel Right Away?

Not to worry -- you have 14 days from the time you register to cancel without penalty. You get back your entire $250.  (I’m afraid you lose that $15 service fee -- the registration company won’t give it back to us, so we can’t give it back to you.)

If You Cancel Within 30 Days

You will have a $250 credit with us, which you can use for any of our events until the end of the 2018 ride season.

If You Cancel After 30 Days

After 30 days we are unable to offer credits or refunds for any reason. You can sell your spot on your own if you wish, or we will try to sell it for you after the trip is full.

BUT... we strongly recommend that you consider buying trip insurance here. That way if something happens where you can’t attend the trip you’re covered. This insurance is offered by an excellent insurance company that has paid out many times to our cycling friends. Every trip we do we get a last-minute plea from a cyclist with an emergency -- trip insurance covers you and gets you a refund.

Prices for the insurance? Depend on the options you pick. Feel free to go to the insurance site here and play around -- no commitment or credit card required.
